House height
Traditionally, the overall height of a house is determined by measuring from the top of the finished floor on the main level, to the highest peak of the roof.

Ceiling heights Raising or lowering the height of the ceilings on one or more floors of a house is often a simple change that can be made by your builder. However, if you want to raise the ceiling of the main floor of a two-story home, there has to be room to add steps to the existing staircase. |

Main level | 10 |
Vaulted ceilings
We consider a room to be vaulted if the ceiling - whether flat, angled, or curved - is above 10 feet at its highest point. If you prefer that one or more rooms not be vaulted in your new home, this is a very simple change that your builder can make for you.

After coming off of the covered entry porch you enter a foyer space with the living room straight ahead, which has an opening that is framed by round decorative columns. Angled walls with windows in the living room bring in multiple views and plenty of sunshine, and reflect light off of the coffered ceiling. As you walk left toward the living areas, you pass an open parlor with a coffered ceiling on the right, and a bedroom with a full bath on the left. Straight down the hallway is a formal dining room with a coffered ceiling, and a hall to the left that leads to a laundry/utility room, and a two–car garage. On the other side of the dining room is an open kitchen and family room space, with views from three pairs of doors to an outdoor cabana and lanai. The kitchen has a pantry and an eating counter, and the family room has a center fireplace, which is flanked by two windows on both sides of it. A door in the family room opens into a cabana bath, which has a secondary door to the rear lanai. The two–sided fireplace warms up the lanai on cooler days/evenings, creating a comfortable place to enjoy the outdoors.
To the right of the foyer are two more bedrooms, a second full bath with a secondary door to bedroom 2, and the master bedroom suite. The master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, and two pairs of French doors that open onto a private lanai. A large dressing area with room for built–ins has two walk–in closets, and leads to a master bath with both a tub and a shower.
Please Note
The plans for this home call for reinforced concrete block exterior walls. If you plan to construct this house with any other exterior wall system, we highly recommend that you purchase the plans in electronic format.
