House height
Traditionally, the overall height of a house is determined by measuring from the top of the finished floor on the main level, to the highest peak of the roof.

Ceiling heights Raising or lowering the height of the ceilings on one or more floors of a house is often a simple change that can be made by your builder. However, if you want to raise the ceiling of the main floor of a two-story home, there has to be room to add steps to the existing staircase. |

Main level | 10 |
Upper level | 9 |
Vaulted ceilings
We consider a room to be vaulted if the ceiling - whether flat, angled, or curved - is above 10 feet at its highest point. If you prefer that one or more rooms not be vaulted in your new home, this is a very simple change that your builder can make for you.

This house can be easily modified to include a full in–law unit on the main floor. If this is of interest to you, please read the section near the end of this Description titled In–Law Unit.
The covered front porch is framed by tapered columns, and extends to almost the width of the home, creating an ideal space for sitting and relaxing. After entering the entrance hall, a powder room is to the left, and a formal dining room is to the right. As you pass the central staircase, you enter an open family room with a 12’–high coffered ceiling. On either side of the stone fireplace is a pair of windows and a pair of glass doors, which provide views to the rear terrace. To the right is an open kitchen with a long wall of counter space, and a large center island with an extended countertop for eating, The kitchen is open to the dining room, with a butlery area and walk–in pantry separating the two spaces. From the breakfast area, a small hall leads to a three–car garage, a nook that can be used as a mudroom or office area, and a laundry room. From the family room, a small hall leads to a private master suite wing. The master bedroom features a vaulted ceiling, a luxurious bathroom with a large shower and whirlpool tub, and a spacious walk–in closet.
Upstairs there are three additional bedrooms and a large game room with a fireplace, and a vaulted ceiling that reaches 16′ high. Two of the bedrooms share a private full bath, and an additional full bath is off of the hallway for public use.
In–Law Unit
Convert the Master bedroom, bath and closet into an in–law unit, and then turn the game room on the upper floor into a dramatic and spacious master bedroom, and suite 3 into a master bath.
