House height
Traditionally, the overall height of a house is determined by measuring from the top of the finished floor on the main level, to the highest peak of the roof.

Ceiling heights Raising or lowering the height of the ceilings on one or more floors of a house is often a simple change that can be made by your builder. However, if you want to raise the ceiling of the main floor of a two-story home, there has to be room to add steps to the existing staircase. |

Main level | 9 |
Vaulted ceilings
We consider a room to be vaulted if the ceiling - whether flat, angled, or curved - is above 10 feet at its highest point. If you prefer that one or more rooms not be vaulted in your new home, this is a very simple change that your builder can make for you.

Plenty of windows are located on all four sides of the garage at both the main and upper levels to provide natural light and ventilation. On the garage level there are interior stairs that go up to an upper level with an open room that's called out as a 'bonus room' on the plans. It includes a full bath, and there's plenty of room to turn it into a guest cottage. The ceiling on this level slopes up to a 9' flat section in the middle.

Brief Description
This two–car garage was originally designed for the two Low Country Living homes featured on our site. However, this garage would work well with many styles and types of homes as long as you use the same (or similar) materials on the exterior and the roof that were used on your house. The photo page shows the original garage that was built with Low Country Living 2.
