House height
Traditionally, the overall height of a house is determined by measuring from the top of the finished floor on the main level, to the highest peak of the roof.

34.5 |
Ceiling heights Raising or lowering the height of the ceilings on one or more floors of a house is often a simple change that can be made by your builder. However, if you want to raise the ceiling of the main floor of a two-story home, there has to be room to add steps to the existing staircase. |

Main level | 10 |
Upper level | 9 |
Vaulted ceilings
We consider a room to be vaulted if the ceiling - whether flat, angled, or curved - is above 10 feet at its highest point. If you prefer that one or more rooms not be vaulted in your new home, this is a very simple change that your builder can make for you.

The exterior of this home is anchored by brick veneer at the bottom, and finished above with a combination of cedar shingles and stucco. With its combination of small paned windows, exposed timber framing, cross gabled roofs, and dormers, it reflects the historic qualities of the traditional Tudor home. This house can be easily modified to include a full in–law unit on the main floor. If this is of interest to you, please read the section near the end of this Description titled In–Law Unit.
The front porch is framed by two newel posts, which each hold a lantern to light the front steps. The foyer is two stories high, giving you views to the second floor balcony above. To the left is a formal dining room, and straight ahead is a great room with a vaulted ceiling. The great room has a fireplace flanked by built–ins, and is open to the kitchen, which has a large work island in the center. A breakfast nook with a vaulted ceiling and a built–in bench has windows along three walls, which bring in plenty of sunshine to the kitchen, as well as outdoor views. A door from the great room opens onto an outdoor terrace, which you can view from the windows that line the rear wall. Off of the kitchen, there are a pantry and an atrium space, which provides a space for a desk and additional cabinetry. A pair of doors from the atrium leads to a private outdoor space that is covered with a trellis above for shade. From the atrium, you enter the rear hall, which connects to the front foyer. At the rear hall there are a laundry room, a coat closet, a powder room, and a door to the three–car garage. To the right of the great room is a private master suite, which features a vaulted ceiling that reaches over 15′ high. The master bath, which leads to a large walk–in closet, is luxurious with a whirlpool tub, a separate shower, and a private toilet room.
As you come off the upstairs, the balcony wraps around the foyer space, so you have views to the lower floor from all four sides. There is also an overlook that is open to the great room below, and a built–in window seat, which looks out to the front, that gives you a place to sit and enjoy the balcony. Two bedrooms share a full bath, and a third bedroom has its own private full bath. A game room is also on the upper floor, as well as an optional exercise room.
In–Law Unit
Convert the Master Suite on the main floor, including the bath and dressing areas, into an in–law unit, and then turn the Game Room, Suite 4, and the exercise space upstairs into a Master Suite.

Brief Description
Unique rooflines and wood detailing grace the exterior of this classic Tudor–style home. The ceilings on the main level are set at a lofty 10', and the ceilings in the foyer, great room, and master bedroom vault all the way to the roofline. The owner's suite occupies almost the entire right side of the house, and upstairs – in addition to three more bedrooms – there's both a game room and an exercise room built above the 3–car garage. A covered terrace at the rear can be accessed from either the great room or the master bedroom.
