Ceiling heights Raising or lowering the height of the ceilings on one or more floors of a house is often a simple change that can be made by your builder. However, if you want to raise the ceiling of the main floor of a two-story home, there has to be room to add steps to the existing staircase. |

Vaulted ceilings
We consider a room to be vaulted if the ceiling - whether flat, angled, or curved - is above 10 feet at its highest point. If you prefer that one or more rooms not be vaulted in your new home, this is a very simple change that your builder can make for you.

LR, FOY |
Upon entering the house from the two–story high covered entry, you find yourself in a foyer with a ceiling that reaches over 21 feet in height, that leads to a dramatic, open rotunda with a balcony above it. To your right is an open curved stairwell to the upper floor, which has a mid–landing with a pair of glass doors that open onto an exterior balcony. To your left there is a pair of doors that open into a library/den. As you walk through the rotunda space, you enter an open living room with a decorative ceiling that is almost 23' in height. The living room has three pairs of glazed doors looking out to the covered patio at the rear, with arched windows above them for additional light and views. A large bar sits in one corner of the living room, for entertaining guests. The living room is open to the formal dining room, which is framed by three pairs of columns. The dining room has a tray ceiling, three bay windows looking out to the covered patio, and a built–in niche. Between it and the kitchen is a butler's pantry. The large gourmet kitchen has a raised eating counter and a a center island, and it is open to the breakfast nook and the family room. The family room has a decorative tray ceiling, a pair of glazed doors that walk out to the covered patio, and a full cabana bath, which has a secondary door to the side yard. This is convenient for those times you may be coming back from the pool or the beach.
From the kitchen, there is an opening that leads to either a large vestibule with an elevator and a powder room, or to a laundry room and a maid's room, with a full private bath. This same opening leads finally to a 3–car garage.
On the other side of the rotunda, a small hall leads to a VIP bedroom suite. The bedroom has a pair of doors that accesses the covered patio at the rear, and a luxurious bathroom area features a walk–in closet, two vanity sinks, a private toilet area with a bidet, a tub, and a separate shower.
Upstairs, a central bridge with curved railings connects the two upper wings, and looks down upon the living room and the foyer. The right wing contains the master suite, another bedroom suite, and a second laundry room. After turning right from the stair landing, you find yourself in a foyer space with an alcove, which would be an ideal space for a bench or a piece of art. It is via this foyer that one enters and exits the elevator. Upon entering the master suite, a bar is conveniently located on your right. Straight ahead there is a sitting area with a pair of glazed doors that walk out to a private covered balcony. The master bedroom has tray ceilings, and a dressing area that divides the 'his' and the larger 'her' walk–in closets. The master bath features a tub right next to a large window, a separate shower, two separate toilet rooms, and two separate vanity sinks. The second bedroom suite in this wing has a private covered balcony, a walk–in closet, and a full bath. The left wing has two more bedroom suites, each with its own walk–in closet, full bath, and covered balcony.
