Ceiling heights Raising or lowering the height of the ceilings on one or more floors of a house is often a simple change that can be made by your builder. However, if you want to raise the ceiling of the main floor of a two-story home, there has to be room to add steps to the existing staircase. |

Vaulted ceilings
We consider a room to be vaulted if the ceiling - whether flat, angled, or curved - is above 10 feet at its highest point. If you prefer that one or more rooms not be vaulted in your new home, this is a very simple change that your builder can make for you.

After coming off the covered entry, you enter a two–story high foyer space with a view to the balcony above. The curved bay windows in the formal living room straight ahead provide immediate two–story views to the rear. To the left of the foyer are a formal dining room and a stairwell to the upper floor. The dining room conveniently accesses the kitchen through a butler's pantry. The kitchen has a center island with a stove, and is open to the breakfast nook, which has a smaller curved bay window. The breakfast nook has a coffered ceiling, and a half–height wall with columns, which separates the nook from the family room. The family room has an opening that accesses the living room, and at the rear there is a vestibule to a full cabana bath. A pair of doors from the family room leads to the covered patio, which features arched openings and is perfect for entertaining with a barbeque area and direct access to the cabana bath. On the other side of the kitchen are a laundry room and a two–car garage.
If you turn right at the entry foyer, you pass a den/library and a powder room before reaching the master suite. Upon entering the master bedroom, you find yourself in an octagon shaped vestibule. If you turn left, you pass two walk–in closets as you walk towards the rear of the bedroom, where there is an octagon shaped sitting area with a wet bar. Two pairs of doors open onto the covered patio, which is symmetrical to the family room covered patio, with columns and arched openings. The large master bath has a private toilet, a linen closet, two separate sinks, and both a shower and a tub.
The upstairs landing opens into a large loft space, which has a private balcony that looks out to the front. The upper balcony looks down to the living room and foyer space. If you turn right at the stairwell, you'll find a linen closet, a storage/utility room, and a bedroom suite with a walk–in closet and full bath. On the other side of the upper balcony, there are three more bedrooms, each with walk–in closets, and two full baths. Bedroom 4 has its own private full bath, and a balcony that looks out to the front.
Please Note
The plans for this home call for reinforced concrete block exterior walls. If you plan to construct this house with any other exterior wall system, we highly recommend that you purchase the plans in electronic format.
